He was the Vice-Chancellor of the BidhanChandra Krishi Viswa Vidyalay, the premier Agricultural University in the State of West Bengal.Presently he is actively engaged with research on agricultural issues.

A Synopsis of the Hartwell Paper 2010/3 London School of Economics convened a conference to work out a fresh approach to the problem of climate change in April 201o. The result that emerged as thesis titled Hartwell Paper is 42 pages long. Consin team considered the Paper to be a valuable contribution to the literature on the subject and deserved to be brought to the atttention of wider audience. Global Surface Tempareture Change ~ Dr. James Hansen 2010/4 Dr. James Edward Hansen – Noted Climatologist and Director of NASA’s The Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) in New York City over the last three decades, has been named the whistle blower for warming humanity about the catastrophe threatened by global warming. In 1981 Hansen developed the first climate model, nick named Model Zero,predicting that warming trend studied could raise the sea levels. Since then Hansen used this model to predict that the world will be continuing to be warmer and warmer over the next century which turned out to be correct. Bt Brinjal: Need to refocus the Debate ~ Prabir Purkayastha, Satyajit Rath 2010/5 Prabir Purakayestha and Satyajit Rath are scientists associated with Delhi Science Forum, who are actively engaged in generating awareness about policy of scientific issue in the public interest. Their recent contribution on Bt. controversy appeared in Economic and Political weekly. We are publishing their paper, thanks to their consent.

How warm was this summer ? ~ Dr. James Hansen 2010/6 Dr. James Hansen presents in this paper the results of the study of the temperature during the months of 2010, concluding that 2010 may not be the warmest year.His expectations about 2011 and 2012 is that the probability for these years being warmer is high.
